Dickinson Wright is pleased to announce that Hale Stewart has joined the firm’s Austin office as Of Counsel.
“We are thrilled that Hale is joining Dickinson Wright’s captive insurance practice,” said Kevin Doherty, Chair of the Captive Insurance Practice Group at Dickinson Wright. “His deep knowledge and experience in captive insurance significantly broadens the firm’s capabilities in this growing and continually evolving market.”
Hale focuses his practice on insurance regulatory and tax matters, specifically in the captive insurance arena. He counsels clients on the formation and management of captives, including analyzing existing business structures to determine viability for captive formation. His strategies help clients respond to common business insurance issues, such as unavailability of coverage or lack of affordable rates when a company has a low claims history. His process for captive insurance programs is outlined in his book, Designing a Risk Financing Program. In addition, he assists clients with drafting feasibility studies, insurance policies, and corporate documents. He also regularly interacts with captive service providers regarding ongoing compliance issues. Prior to joining Dickinson Wright, Hale served as Captive Development Officer at Higginbotham Insurance. Hale received his LL.M. in International and Domestic Taxation from Thomas Jefferson School of Law (magna cum laude), his J.D. from South Texas College of Law, and his B.A. from Trinity University.
