Dickinson Wright is pleased to announce that Tyler Francis and Fernanda Martins have joined the firm’s Toronto office as Associates.
Tyler focuses his practice on commercial litigation. He advises private and institutional clients on a range of matters, including shareholder disputes, contract enforcement, employment issues, debt and mortgage recovery, commercial leasing disputes, and residential real estate litigation. Tyler has advocated for his clients through private mediation, arbitration, and before the Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court, and the Landlord and Tenant Board. He works with clients at every stage of a dispute, from early risk assessment and pre-litigation strategy through courtroom advocacy, providing practical guidance to help them resolve issues efficiently. Tyler received his B.A. from the University of Waterloo and his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Fernanda focuses her practice on commercial litigation. She brings international legal experience with a background in appellate proceedings before Brazil’s Federal Court of Appeal. During several years clerking with the court, she assisted with appeals involving a range of civil and commercial disputes. Her work included involvement in early cases addressing the employment classification of gig economy workers. Prior to her clerkship, Fernanda worked as a law student with international law firms and with Brazil’s Federal Court of Appeal while completing her legal studies. Fernanda earned her LL.M. from the University of Toronto and obtained her Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. She holds an LL.B. from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo in Brazil.
