William J. Hurles


Mr. Hurles is a mechanical engineer and registered patent attorney that focuses his practice on intellectual property law, primarily in patent law. He represents firm clients from a variety of fields, with an emphasis on the automotive industry. He provides patent prosecution support at all stages, including the preparation of patent applications, responses to office actions and appeal briefs before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He provides legal opinions, including patentability, freedom-to-operate and patent validity opinions. He supports clients in post-grant patent challenge proceedings, including Ex-Parte Reexaminations and Inter Partes Reviews. Beyond his patent work, he provides legal opinions and registration support for trademarks and copyrights.

Outside of his primary practice, Mr. Hurles volunteers his time working with start-up companies, non-profit organizations and students in intellectual property related workshops. He also represents the firm’s pro bono clients in intellectual property related matters.
