Dickinson Wright is pleased to announce that Joanne Faycurry and Samuel McKim have joined the firm’s Troy office.
Joanne Faycurry joins Dickinson Wright as a Member. Joanne concentrates her practice on state and local tax controversy and litigation work, as well as on state tax planning. She is dedicated to helping her clients obtain considerable tax refunds and savings with respect to nearly every state and local tax levied in Michigan. Clients ranging from small-business owners to Fortune 500 companies benefit from her in-depth knowledge of all state-levied taxes, including Michigan’s corporate income tax; sales, use and withholding taxes; and individual income taxes.
In her property tax practice, Joanne is focused on resolving real and personal property tax valuation/assessment disputes, exemption claims and special assessment disputes. Her in-depth understanding of valuation principles and the underlying legal issues of her clients’ valuation cases allows her to successfully represent them in real and personal property tax appeals.
She represents clients in state and local tax matters throughout the United States. Joanne is recognized as a leader in her field by Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers. She is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. Joanne received her B.A. from Wayne State University and her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law.
Samuel McKim joins Dickinson Wright as Of Counsel. He counsels clients and assists them with tax planning, opinion work, and trial and appellate appeals. He is particularly interested in cases involving state and local tax issues of first impression as well as cases involving complex legal and factual issues. Samuel is recognized as a leader in his field by Best Lawyers in America and Top Michigan Lawyers (Corporation and Tax Law). He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. He has taught State and Local Tax Law as an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School. Samuel received his A.B. from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
