Brittney Rivers represents clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters, with a focus on employment and business disputes. She is experienced in all phases of litigation, including pre-dispute counseling, discovery, trial, arbitration, and appeal. She also provides clients with practical advice on employment and business issues, such as employment and contractor agreements, restrictive covenants including non-competition and non-solicitation clauses, executive compensation, wage issues, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leave, agency investigations, breach of contract, and separation agreements.

Prominent Assignments

  • Served as lead counsel in a derivative arbitration involving claims of breach of fiduciary duty and misrepresentation against a managing member of a limited liability company. Obtained partial summary judgment in favor of the client, followed by a favorable resolution of the remaining claims.
  •  Represented a franchisee in arbitration against a national real estate franchisor involving claims of breach of contract, tortious interference, and unjust enrichment. Following a full hearing, the arbitrator awarded a net recovery of approximately $5 million, and the matter was resolved shortly thereafter.
  • Represented a minority shareholder in a dispute with majority stakeholders involving an alleged stock option agreement. Obtained summary judgment invalidating the agreement, which led to a favorable settlement.
  • Represented a property owner in a seven-figure settlement involving negligence claims related to tree cutting activities by a public entity.
  • Successfully represented a client in an arbitration over real property ownership between neighbors, securing a final award confirming the client’s ownership under the terms of prior agreements.
  • Represented an employee in a lawsuit involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and constructive discharge. After an adverse summary judgment ruling, successfully appealed to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, resulting in a reversal of the lower court’s decision.
