Dickinson Wright is pleased to announce that Jing Liu, Ph.D. (Member and Life Sciences Practice Group Chair, San Diego) and Paul Chang, Ph.D. (Member, San Diego) have been shortlisted for LMG Life Sciences 2025 Americas Awards.
Dr. Liu is shortlisted for Patent Strategy Attorney of the Year in California, and Dr. Chang is shortlisted for US Rising Star in Intellectual Property. The LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards aim to recognize law firms and lawyers in a way that reflects the intricacies of both the legal market and the life sciences industry, with a diverse range of related categories. The winners of the 2025 LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards will be announced on September 4th in New York City.

Dr. Jing Liu, Chair of the firm’s Life Sciences Practice, employs creative IP strategies to support her clients’ underlying business objectives. Dr. Liu's legal experience, combined with her background in life sciences, allow her to provide tailored services and implement strategies to best protect her clients’ interests and their valuable IP. She focuses on patent prosecution, strategic counseling on patent infringement, validity issues, IP asset procurement and management, clearance investigations, IP landscape and due diligence studies, and licensing and collaboration strategies for life sciences companies.
Dr. Paul Chang assists clients in safeguarding their innovations during IP procurement and beyond, particularly in the life sciences industry. Clients entrust him with securing patent protections in areas like genomics, bioinformatics, personalized medicine, and AI, covering everything from instrument platforms to data collection and analyses to disease diagnosis and treatment. Beyond securing IP rights, he assists clients with validity and invalidity analyses, infringement studies, IP due diligence investigations, clearance investigations, and IP licensing and negotiations.
