Lawyer Brenda Swick Appointed to the NAFTA Chapter 19 (Trade Remedies) Roster for Canada

Dickinson Wright LLP, Canada’s leading full-service business law firm specializing in cross-border counsel, is pleased to announce that Lawyer Brenda C. Swick has been appointed to the NAFTA Chapter 19 (Trade Remedies) Roster for Canada.
Ms. Swick was appointed to the position by the Government of Canada. In this role, she will hear disputes between Canada and the United States in regard to the imposition of antidumping and countervailing duties. The announcement will be published in Part II of the Canada Gazette on February 21, 2018.
Ms. Swick is a Partner in the firm’s Toronto office where she focuses her practice on government contracting, anti-trust, regulatory compliance, anti-corruption, export controls and economic sanctions, trade remedies, customs and judicial review of government decisions. She also has a practice in international trade and investment law (including WTO/NAFTA dispute settlement).
As part of her WTO and NAFTA practice, for over 20 years, Ms. Swick has successfully litigated numerous high-profile cases. She advised governments and private sector clients in more than 15 WTO dispute resolution proceedings. Ms. Swick currently represents a provincial government in the WTO Feed-In-Tariff case and for many years represented the Quebec Softwood Lumber industry in the anti-dumping and countervailing duty cases against imports of softwood lumber from Canada, the most commercially significant trade case ever filed under the US trade laws.
Ms. Swick is recognized as a leader in her field by Chambers Global, Chambers Canada, Lexpert Canadian Legal Directory, and Who’s Who Legal in Canada. She is a member of the Global Offset and Countertrade Association and sits on the North American Forum Executive Council of the International Bar Association. She is an active member of the American Bar Association. Ms. Swick received her J.D. from Queen’s University and her Certificate in Public Procurement Law and Practice from Osgoode Hall Law School.
