Dickinson Wright Assists Molded Devices Inc. in its acquisition of Phoenix Manufacturing Ltd.

Molded Devices Inc., an industry leader in the engineering and manufacturing of plastic components for the medical, energy and aerospace/defense industries, based in the United States (“MDI”), has completed the acquisition of Phoenix Manufacturing Ltd. (“Phoenix”), an industry leader in the design and manufacture of UL certified, electrical insulating boots as well as the fluidized bed application of electrical busbar epoxy based in Canada.
With the addition of the Phoenix product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities in Canada, MDI continues to grow both organically and through key acquisitions to become the premier, world class rubber and plastic contract manufacturer to the global OEM marketplace; offering both proprietary products, custom molding services, and new product development & engineering, with an unwavering focus on continual improvement to our processes, products, and people. Molded Devices Inc. is the largest dip molder and dip coater of custom products in North America.
“We are excited to add Phoenix to our portfolio. We look to leverage their solid reputation to further grow their business throughout North America. This acquisition enables MDI to expand our manufacturing footprint into Canada,” said Jack Slinger CEO of MDI.

Dickinson Wright served as counsel to MDI: the team in Toronto was led by Mark Redinger and Kathy Le (M&A), and involved Carly Walter (Corporate), Harley Chommany (Corporate), Jennifer Leve (Tax), Mark Shapiro (Employment), Tracey Bergeron (Employment), Jim McKeon (Financing) and Harry Bhandal (Real Estate). David Thompson (Corporate) acted as US counsel to the Purchaser.
