A member in the firm’s Grand Rapids office, John Faris advises clients on real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and investment strategies, drawing on his background in business, finance, private equity, and tax. His work spans several industries, with a focus on hospitality, early-stage companies, and real estate development.

He works with clients throughout the full business lifecycle—from startup and fundraising to acquisitions, joint ventures, and exits. John has handled deals involving hotels, mixed-use properties, corporate combinations, and investment platforms. He’s known for his clear judgment, practical advice, and ability to balance immediate business needs with long-term goals.

Before joining the firm, John was general counsel and chief development liaison at a private real estate and franchise company, where he worked on repositioning projects, capital raising, and brand development. He regularly collaborates with executives, boards, and investors to support informed decisions and sustainable growth.
