David is an associate in Dickinson Wright’s Toronto office. He has a broad commercial litigation practice, which includes contract disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency, and shareholder oppression. In addition to David’s commercial litigation practice, he also has experience with administrative law, particularly assisting clients with judicial review of government decisions.

  • Represented a client in a contempt sentencing proceeding and successfully represented the client in responding to an appeal of the sentencing order before the Federal Court of Appeal.
  • Successfully represented a public mining company in application for approval of arrangement under the Business Corporations Act.
  • Successfully represented a public cannabis company in application for approval of arrangement under the Business Corporations Act.
  • Represented a wealth advisory firm in negligence claim for investment losses.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of an investment bank for payment of a success fee.

  • Successfully represented a subscription-based digital media platform in obtaining a pre-trial dismissal of a defamation lawsuit as a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation.
  • Represented a craft beer marketing company with a breach of confidence and fiduciary duty claim, and obtained pre-trial injunction against defendants.
  • Represented an online newspaper in a defamation matter relating to an article reporting on a doctor’s advocacy for hydroxychloroquine and herd immunity in response to COVID-19.
