Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce that Attorney Steven A. Caloiaro has joined the firm’s Reno office as Of Counsel.
Mr. Caloiaro is an intellectual property litigator with an emphasis on patent and trademark law. He has substantial experience in all phases of patent litigation, including fact and expert discovery, claim construction, summary judgment, and appellate briefs. He works with several clients in the emerging online gaming industry, serving as external IP counsel and managing large-scale patent portfolios, including multi-million dollar sales and licenses.
Mr. Caloiaro also provides strategic counsel on trademark protection, prepares and prosecutes trademark applications, and enforces intellectual property rights. He also helps clients navigate proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including post-grant petitions, oppositions, and cancellations.
Recently, Mr. Caloiaro represented a client in a patent case that resulted in a $15 million dollar judgment, and settled three outstanding patent litigation cases on behalf of clients that resulted in a plaintiff friendly settlement and permanent injunctions. He also settled a trade secret case with a plaintiff friendly settlement.
Mr. Caloiaro is the chapter counselor of the Nevada Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon and is on the Board of the Animal Ark, a local non-profit wildlife sanctuary. He is involved in the University of Nevada Athletics and the Boys and Girls Club as a Future Builder. Mr. Caloiaro received his B.A. from the University of Nevada-Reno and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
