Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce that the firm is implementing a new staff paid parental leave policy effective January 1, 2020. The new policy allows staff to take up to 12 weeks of full paid leave to care for a newborn or newly adopted child. The policy is gender neutral and outlines new processes for off-ramping and on-ramping employees.
“Dickinson Wright is committed to supporting our employees and their families during pivotal, transformational moments in their lives,” says Michael Hammer, CEO of Dickinson Wright. “Providing paid parental leave to our staff is a key aspect of our commitment in providing a supportive environment so that our employees can flourish in their careers. This policy not only benefits our employees, but will have a tremendous impact on the firm and our culture for years to come.”
The new staff paid parental leave policy was a core initiative for the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee for 2019 and reflects the firm’s desire to continuously improve the work environment for all employees. The firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee led the effort in conjunction with Firm management and the Staff Parental Leave Sub-Committee (comprised of both lawyers and non-lawyer staff members).
“As a working mother, I felt it was imperative to participate in this process,” says Lillian Steuben, member of the Staff Parental Leave Sub-Committee. “I want to thank Firm leadership and the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for their openness to feedback and suggestions as we worked towards developing a policy that was inclusive of all employees at Dickinson Wright.”
