Michael Lipton, Q.C., is a Senior Partner of Dickinson Wright LLP, based in Toronto, and heads the Canadian gaming law and hospitality group. He is ranked in the Gaming & Gambling Practice Area in the guide in Band 1. For over 25 years, he has served as senior counsel on several complex gaming law matters including advising on Requests for Proposals from governments to operate commercial and charitable casinos and advising applicants who seek registration with the gaming regulatory authorities throughout North America. He regularly represents and advises gaming equipment suppliers, institutional investors, governments, racetracks, casinos, First Nations and pari-mutuel operators in all areas of gaming law from both a land-based and Internet perspective. He has presented numerous papers on the various aspects of gaming law at international legal conferences and his gaming law articles have been published on a global basis including the Canadian chapter of the Internet Gaming Report. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Online Gambling Lawyer and the founding editor of Canadian Gaming Lawyer. Michael’s vast expertise and deep knowledge in gaming law have been recognized by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in Canada and by Chambers Global from 2008 to 2019. He is a founding member of the International Masters of Gaming Law and a past President. In 2011, the Canadian Gaming Association presented him with an award for Leadership and Outstanding Contribution to the Gaming Industry. Kathleen Campbell Walker is a Member in the firm’s El Paso office and is Co-Chair of the firm’s Immigration Practice Group. She is ranked in the Immigration: Business section in the guide in Band 1. Ms. Walker is known internationally as a leader in the field of immigration law and has practiced for over 30 years. Her immigration law practice focuses on business and family-based immigration, consular processing, employer sanctions/worksite enforcement, immigration audits, security checks, waivers, admissibility, and citizenship and naturalization. Her clients include hospitals and other healthcare providers, major global manufacturing companies, energy and energy service companies, defense contractors, construction companies, real estate and finance firms, cities, hospitality and hospitality service institutions, food service businesses and franchisees, investors and entrepreneurs, equestrians, performing artists, and individuals. Ms. Walker is a former national president and general counsel of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She is board certified in Immigration and National Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is also ranked AV preeminent with Martindale-Hubbell.
