Cannabis Law Report and Cannabis Law Journal compiled the lawyers they believe to be the top 200 cannabis practitioners around the world via an annual survey of clients and lawyers in the cannabis legal services sectors and based on their reporting and editorial decisions for more than a decade. Scot is the Co-Founder of the firm’s Cannabis Practice, which launched over 10 years ago and includes more than 50 attorneys providing advice to clients in the cannabis sector. He has extensive experience in corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and tax law, with a particular emphasis on regulated industries (healthcare, dentistry, medical cannabis, and beyond). His clients rely on him to advise them concerning their complex financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and divestitures, and he serves as their outside general counsel. Scot provides proactive advice about sensitive management matters, litigation management, day-to-day transactional needs, and objective assessments to develop successful growth strategies.
Benjamin serves as outside general counsel providing regulatory and transactional-based services to cannabis companies in various jurisdictions throughout the U.S. and Canada. He is a frequent speaker at professional seminars and conferences and is recognized as a leading legal contributor to the Michigan cannabis industry. Prior to joining Dickinson Wright, Ben served as the Chief Legal Officer for a vertically integrated cannabis company with operations in Michigan and Massachusetts. In that role, Ben gained invaluable experience as a business operator and entrepreneur. That expanded perspective enables him to fully appreciate client needs and develop practical and cost-effective legal solutions in furtherance of their success.
