Join Lawyer Cherie Brant for a talk about “Power and Prudence – Solar Energy at Nipissing First Nation” from 11:00 a.m. to 12: 15 p.m. during the 2016 AFOA Canada National Conference on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, Quebec.
“Power and Prudence – Solar Energy at Nipissing First Nation” will outline how to position the governance and management of a First Nation for a successful solar energy farm. Ms. Brant will also discuss the legal aspects of a renewable energy project and identifying the sources of funds needed to finance such a large scale project. Ms. Brant will be joined on the panel by Dwayne Nashkawa, MPA, Chief Executive Officer, Nipissing First Nation and Tamara Saulis, CAFM, Chief Financial Officer, Nipissing First Nation.
The 2016 AFOA Canada National Conference will take place on February 16-18, 2016 in Montreal. This year’s theme is “Leadership and Governance – Transformational Change through Education and Capacity Building”. This conference will focus on the importance of strong leadership and governance with workshops that will address key areas that must be considered to successfully implement a community’s vision.
