William V. Vorys

Will Vorys focuses his practice primarily on government relations and administrative law, advocating public policy at the Ohio statehouse and assisting clients with regulatory compliance. Will also practices in the areas of energy and utility law, as well as general corporate law. Prior to joining Dickinson Wright, Will served in state government in the office of former Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder. He also worked in the private sector as a loan advisor for JPMorgan Chase.

Prominent Assignments

Will represents all manner of interests, including the renewable energy and natural gas industries, the restaurant industry, the aerospace industry, a major national brewer with an Ohio manufacturing facility, the state’s largest self-insured professional employer organization, education and workforce development interests, and several not-for-profit institutions. He also represents clients before the Ohio Department of Taxation and has successfully appealed erroneous tax assessments on behalf of various businesses.

Will’s legislative experience includes drafting legislation and amendments, providing analysis of pending legislation, presenting testimony and client position papers, and monitoring and evaluating committee hearings and legislative sessions. With respect to government relations and advocacy, Will assists clients in proactively building relationships with government officials and in developing advocacy strategies that can be integrated into government relations plans.

Will also advises clients on energy and utility matters, including litigation before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the Ohio Power Siting Board. His experience includes representing several wind and solar developers in obtaining construction permits for electric generation facilities.
