Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce that Attorney J. Troy Terakedis has joined the firm’s Columbus office as a Member. He joins Dickinson Wright from Jones Day.
Mr. Terakedis counsels clients on a variety of federal income tax matters, including tax issues related to partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations. He also counsels leveraged buyout, venture capital, and other private equity funds on formation and equity compensation issues and other tax-related matters often as they relate to structuring mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and reorganizations in a tax-efficient manner. In addition, Mr. Terakedis counsels clients on a wide variety of business and general corporate matters.
Mr. Terakedis also advises officers and directors of Fortune 500 companies, principals of private equity funds, owners of closely-held businesses and other high net worth individuals and executives on individual federal income tax matters, business succession planning, estate and gift planning, including the formation of family limited partnerships, structuring sales to detective grantor trusts, implementation of life insurance strategies, formation of family foundations, and other sophisticated wealth transfer and asset protection planning techniques.
Mr. Terakedis is an active lecturer on IRS, federal income, and estate and gift tax topics. He is a member of the American, Ohio, and Columbus Bar Associations and is the former chair of the Columbus Bar Association’s Business Tax Committee. He is recognized for his work in Best Lawyers in America and Ohio Super Lawyers. Mr. Terakedis received his B.A. from Kenyon College, his J.D./M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University, and his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami.
