Rachel Schaffer Lawson and Stephen Montgomery were recently quoted in a BevNet article titled “Judge Considers Receivership for Uncle Nearest Whiskey Amid $100M Loan Default,” discussing a whiskey company's financial obligations leading to a court complaint. “Often you’ll get paid some 70% of the future value of your receivables up front, but then you lose out on basically 20-30% of the value of that money when it comes in. Companies usually are desperate when they get to that point,” Stephen said. “Obviously, I’ve never seen their financial statements, but generally, if you’re carrying more debt than you’re making, this is what happens. It’s very unfortunate to see a relative titan in the industry, and a female at that, having to go through something like this,” Rachel added. To read more, click here.
