Mr. Levitt is featured on the cover of Lexpert’s June Issue which included a special report on cross-border legal leaders titled Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada. Mr. Levitt is recognized for his work in Franchise Law. The guide profiles Lexpert-ranked lawyers whose focus is in cross-border corporate law and transactions, including in the following practice areas: asset-based lending, banking and finance, competition/anti-trust, corporate finance and securities, corporate tax, energy, insolvency & financial restructuring, M&A, mining law, technology transfers, commodity tax/customs, franchising and project finance.
Mr. Levitt was also quoted in the article, “The Franchise Law Minefield,” that appeared in the issue. The article focused on the complex and challenging legal environment in Canada for franchisors and how the Canadian and provincial governments are trying to alleviate those concerns. Mr. Levitt commented that Canada is starting to see some progress when it comes to franchise regulations and laws. “In a general sense, we are finally getting a significant body of case law that provides franchisors and franchisees with some guidance,” he told Lexpert.
Mr. Levitt is a Partner in Dickinson Wright’s Toronto office. He is one of Canada’s leading authorities in franchising and distribution law. He has represented some of the world’s foremost franchises, and provides legal services to Canadian and international clients on all aspects of Canadian franchise law.
