Lexington Attorney Kerry Harvey was recently quoted in the article “Justice Dept., Under Siege From Trump, Plows Ahead With His Agenda,” published by The New York Times.
The article examines how Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein are remaking the U.S. Department of Justice to carry out the president’s agenda amid criticism from President Trump. As part of this process, Mr. Sessions and Mr. Rosenstein are meeting with United States attorney candidates to recommend to the president to replace the United State attorneys that were forced out earlier this year.
“When you have a long period of time where you don’t have presidential appointees, the day-to-day work gets done but it tends to be somewhat directionless,” Mr. Harvey, a former United States attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, said, adding that “it’s ironic the president’s comments seem to be calculated to weaken the Department of Justice’s ability to implement his agenda.”
