Jonathan L. Gold

Jonathan Gold, a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy group, has over 20 years of experience in handling creditors’ rights and complex financial restructuring matters. He has served as counsel to, among other clients, official creditors’ committees, financial institutions, equipment lenders, and purchasers of bankruptcy estate assets, regularly representing clients in litigation matters including preference and fraudulent transfer litigation, disputes concerning executory contracts and unexpired leases, and other litigation arising from, or related to, the Bankruptcy Code, as well as state court collection matters.

Prior to joining Dickinson Wright, Jonathan practiced at a national law firm in its bankruptcy practice group, where he focused on complex Chapter 11 matters, commercial litigation, and creditors’ rights issues.

  • Representing the post confirmation liquidating trust in the bankruptcy case of a full service steel casting company, which developed and manufactured custom steel castings and components for government, private and public sectors through its parent company and operating subsidiaries, filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Iowa. Prior to this representation, Jonathan represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in this case.
  • Representing the post confirmation liquidating trust in the bankruptcy case of a Virginia based government contracting company which provides plumbing, building construction and renovation services, filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Prior to this representation, Jonathan represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in this case.
  •  Representing the official committee of unsecured creditors in the bankruptcy case of a full service aluminum extrusion company, currently pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Mississippi.
  • Representing the court appointed receiver responsible for operating and managing two residential apartment buildings located in the District of Columbia, which are the subject of cases pending in the District of Columbia Superior Court.
  • Represented the official committee of unsecured creditors in the bankruptcy case of a specialty tea company, selling specialty teas and tea-related products through its chain of retail locations and on-line store, filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland.
  • Represented the official committee of unsecured creditors, as Virginia co-counsel, in the jointly administered bankruptcy cases of a large coal mining company that, prior to the sale of its assets, was mining and selling bituminous, steam, metallurgical and industrial-grade coal through multiple operating subsidiaries, filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
  • Represented the official committee of unsecured creditors in the bankruptcy case of a Virginia based company providing facilities management, information technology, digital imaging, document management, and litigation reprographics services, filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
  • Represented the court appointed receiver responsible for operating and managing a number of residential apartment buildings located in the District of Columbia, which were the subject of cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia.
  • Represented the post-petition secured lender in the bankruptcy case of a Louisiana based crane and construction company filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
  • Represented the pre-petition secured lender in the bankruptcy cases of a number of unrelated automotive dealerships including, a Chevrolet dealership in the District of Maine, a Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in the District of West Virginia, a Mitsubishi dealership in the District of Maryland, and a Chevrolet dealership in the District of New Jersey.
  • Represented the stalking horse purchaser of the debtor’s assets in bankruptcy cases filed by: a Virginia agricultural cooperative corporation operating a dairy facility (Western District of Virginia), a company which owned and operated a chain of gasoline stations and distributed petroleum products, including gasoline and home heating fuels (Eastern District of Tennessee), and an office supply company with 300 employees, and a fleet of trucks providing service from over 200,000 square feet of warehouse space (District of Maryland).
  • Represented the post confirmation trustee for a global manufacturer of engineered automotive structural metal components, which required the management and prosecution of approximately 217 avoidance actions seeking to avoid over $72 million in avoidable transfers, filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
  • Represented the court appointed chapter 11 examiner in the jointly administered bankruptcy cases of a grocery food product distribution company and certain individuals owning significant assets including, the majority interest in the distribution company, a number of grocery stores serviced by the distribution company, and related commercial real estate, filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
