Prominent Assignments

Secured defense judgment for commercial tenant in 23-day trial of multi-million dollar claims alleging wrongful possession of leased property, damage to improvements, and related tort claims; judgment was affirmed in Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Lead briefing and argument responsibility in federal action challenging propriety of certifying 4600-member opt-out class of Fair Labor Standards Act claimants in arbitration proceeding; prevailed in U.S. District Court and Court of Appeals, and on certiorari opposition in Supreme Court.

Defended against, and negotiated eventual full dismissal of, negligence and fiduciary breach claims asserted against client, stock transfer agent, concerning allegedly fraudulent and unauthorized stock sales.

Negotiated favorable settlement of multi-plaintiff federal litigation and companion arbitration involving FLSA overtime claims by former employees of regional home improvement company.

Trial and appellate work in FLSA collective actions alleging failure to pay minimum wage and overtime compensation.

Defense of employee litigation and arbitration proceedings alleging violations of FLSA, federal and state anti-discrimination statutes, and related retaliation claims.  

Trial and appellate work in various consumer class action cases.

Successful resolution of intra-company disputes, including business valuation and buy-out conflicts, and cross-purchase/redemption agreement disputes.
