Dickinson Wright Lawyer Eric W. Kay wrote the article “How proposed changes to Ontario labor law could hit cross-border employers,” which appeared in The Lawyer’s Daily.
The article states: “In order to limit their employment law obligations, cross-border employers need to understand the laws governing their employees who perform work in Ontario. In contrast to employers headquartered elsewhere in Canada with operations in Ontario, it is particularly important for employers headquartered outside Canada, particularly those in the United States, to understand that there is no “at will” employment in Ontario.”
