Dickinson Wright Expands Washington, D.C. Office and Broadens National Intellectual Property Practice

Dickinson Wright PLLC, a nationally recognized law firm with offices in Michigan, Washington D.C., and Macau, China, today announced it is expanding its Washington, D.C. office with the addition of six intellectual property attorneys from Stevens Davis Miller Mosher LLP. Joining Dickinson Wright are the Stevens Davis trademark and copyright group, led by partner Barth X. deRosa, and the Stevens Davis electrical and communications patent group, led by partner James E. Ledbetter. The combination is effective February 1, 2008. Dickinson Wright has the largest intellectual property practice among full-service law firms based in Michigan. The combination with the Stevens Davis trademark, copyright and electrical and communications patent specialists will bring the total number of Dickinson Wright intellectual property attorneys to 36, including 23 registered patent attorneys. Dickinson Wright's Washington, D.C. office will expand into larger offices in the third quarter of 2008 to accommodate the combination and future growth. Mr. deRosa has more than 25 years experience in the intellectual property field and was the leader of the Stevens Davis trademark and copyright practice group. His practice is focused on brand development issues, due diligence, trademark clearance, prosecution, litigation, unfair competition matters and copyright law. Also joining Dickinson Wright's trademark and copyright group are Ruth Mae Finch, Steven D. Lustig and Karen A. Kovacs. Mr. Ledbetter is a registered patent attorney and has been a partner at Stevens Davis for 20 years. Previously he was a patent attorney at Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys). Mr. Ledbetter frequently lectures on patent law subjects in the United States, Japan and Taiwan, and his practice is concentrated in the telecommunications, wireless technology and optical network fields. Also joining Dickinson Wright's patent group is David W. Ward, an electrical engineer and registered patent attorney.
