Three New Attorneys Join Dickinson Wright

Dickinson Wright PLLC welcomes three new attorneys to the Firm - Doug E. Agopsowicz, Kevin L. Pontius and Wendy R. Underwood. Mr. Agopsowicz, an intellectual property associate, joins the Firm's Washington D.C. office. He has prosecuted patent applications in the electrical, optical and mechanical arts. He has a B.A. in physics from Wake Forest University and received his J.D. from American University, where he was a student attorney in the Glushko-Samuelsson Intellectual Property Law Clinic. While working in the Glushko-Samuelsson Intellectual Property Law Clinic, Agopsowicz obtained an exemption to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act for the nonprofit digital library Internet Archive. Mr. Pontius joins the Firm's Bloomfield Hills office as Of Counsel, focusing his practice on intellectual property law. He has been engaged in all phases of patent practice, including preparing and prosecuting patent applications, and counseling regarding issues of patentability, infringement and validity. He served as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where he was responsible for surgical inventions including magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasonic imaging, pregnancy tests and in vivo sensors. He holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering (with a minor in physics) from the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he also completed graduate-level electrical engineering coursework. He received his J.D. from American University. Ms. Underwood joins Dickinson Wright as Of Counsel in the Firm's Detroit office, focusing on corporate law. She received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and she has a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
