Attorney Stuart Scott Quoted in Nashville Business Journal about Workers' Compensation Reforms

June 6, 2014
Recently, Nashville Attorney Stuart Scott spoke to the Nashville Business Journal about Tennessee’s workers’ compensation reforms. In “No more racing to the courthouse: How workers’ comp reform changes the legal game”, Mr. Scott told reporter Scott Harrison that employers can expect to see two major changes from the overhaul to the system.

First, the process is getting streamlined into one system. The new law will effectively cut off the state’s normal courts from workers’ compensation issues and instead establish a separate court to handle workers’ comp cases. “The new system does away with that. You cannot go to trial court,” Scott said. “The legal process isn’t designed just to handle workers’ compensation claims. The new law takes those options off the table and limits the venue to make it more streamlined.”
