Dickinson Wright attorney Robert W. Stocker II has been elected president of the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL), effective January 1, 2008. IMGL, the industry's premier gaming law organization, is a non-profit association of attorneys, gaming regulators and gaming executives dedicated to the education, advancement of the gaming law profession and exchange of professional information concerning the local and global practice and development of all aspects of gaming law. General membership in IMGL is by invitation only to attorneys who distinguish themselves as having at least five years of gaming law experience; are able to demonstrate skills or knowledge that distinguish their performance as a gaming attorney; have a substantial gaming clientele and participate in philanthropic, charitable or educational programs related to the gaming industry. There are also associate memberships for gaming regulators, educators, consultants and in-house counsel of gaming companies. Stocker, a member of Dickinson Wright based in Lansing, Michigan, is a founding member of IMGL. He has an international practice in the areas of gaming, regulatory, corporate and alternative insurance programs law. He is an editorial board member for the Gaming Law Review and an adjunct professor of Gaming and Business Planning at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Stocker is the editor and co-author of The Michigan Gaming Law Legal Resource Book and the soon to be published Regulation of Gaming in Michigan: A Practice Guide. He has authored numerous articles on gaming laws and regulations for gaming publications, and is a frequent speaker on business and alternative insurance issues at national and international conferences and educational programs. Stocker is recognized by Best Lawyers in America for his expertise in gaming, administrative and government relations law and is the sole attorney listed in 2007 Michigan Super Lawyers in the gaming law category.
