Attorneys Courtney Hollins and Colin Ferguson recently wrote an article for Fast Company entitled “6 Reasons Your Lawyer-Less Startup Is Doomed From The Get-Go”. The article examines the pitfalls for start-up companies if they do not consult a lawyer before beginning operations.

The article suggests that entrepreneurs should retain legal counsel before creating their business and not after when they inevitably run into legal issues that are complicated to untangle. “The fact of the matter is, if your startup is legally counseled before an entity exists and operations begin, you’ll have a serious leg-up on your future and your competition,” they write in the article.

The article goes on to list six reasons for entrepreneurs to consult a lawyer before beginning their business including entity formations, leasing, intellectual property and more. To read the full article, please click here.
