Michigan Gaming Control Board Releases May 2008 Revenue Data for the Three Detroit Casinos

By: Scott R. Knapp On June 11, 2008, the Michigan Gaming Control Board ("MGCB") released the revenue data for May 2008 for the three commercial casinos in Detroit, Michigan. The revenue data reveals an overall increase in gaming revenue compared to last month, April 2008. MGM Grand Detroit continued to lead all Michigan casinos with the largest total adjusted gaming revenue of $52,973,612.49, besting the nearest competition by over $11 million. The revenue data released by the MGCB also includes the total wagering tax payments made by the casinos to the State of Michigan. The change in the Michigan wagering tax payments for May 2008 is the result of a decrease in the wagering tax rates for MGM Grand Detroit and MotorCity.
