Detroit, Mich. (March 30, 2007) - Michelle L. Alamo, a Member in the Detroit office of Dickinson Wright PLLC, has received the 2007 New Leader Award from the Detroit Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). Ms. Alamo was selected by the chapter membership based on her contributions to the chapter and the construction industry. Ms. Alamo's areas of practice emphasis include commercial and business litigation and construction litigation. She is Chair of Dickinson Wright's Construction Industry Task Force. She holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Kettering University and a J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She served as law clerk to the Honorable Patrick J. Duggan, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan from 1999 - 2001. Ms. Alamo has been a member of NAWIC since 2005, and currently serves on its Board of Directors. She is the chapter's Membership Chair and Programs/Speakers Chair for Forum 2008. Other professional memberships include the State Bar of Michigan, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and the American Bar Association's Forum on Construction.
