February 5, 2010

Dickinson Wright announces the appointment of Kathleen (Kathy) A. Lang as Director of Strategic Development. As part of her new role, Ms. Lang, a member in the firm's Detroit office, was also appointed Co-Chair of the firm's Diversity Committee. In these roles, Ms. Lang will oversee some of the firm's key initiatives, including the continued enhancement of its diversity mission and the development of a business development training and mentoring program for associates.

"Career development at all levels of a professional service organization, but particularly among associates with increasingly diverse backgrounds, is critical to the organization's future growth and success," said William T. Burgess, Dickinson Wright's CEO. "Kathy has a proven track record in this area, and the ability to combine her skills and leadership on diversity initiatives and career development is a perfect fit with our strategic plan."

Ms. Lang focuses her practice in general commercial litigation, including automotive litigation, class actions, and intellectual property litigation. She has served as lead trial counsel for many domestic and foreign corporations. She has tried and arbitrated a wide-variety of cases, including those arising from product liability, toxic tort, contractual disputes, and business torts, and is often involved in pre-litigation counseling and alternative dispute resolution of claims.
