Patrick E. Mears Joins Dickinson Wright's Grand Rapids Office

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN - Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce that Patrick E. Mears has joined the firm in its Grand Rapids office. Dickinson Wright CEO James A. Mears previously served as regional office partner for Dykema Gossett PLLC in Grand Rapids, and has practiced law in Grand Rapids since 1980 after starting his legal career in New York City in 1976. Mears remarked that he was "extremely impressed with Dickinson Wright's commitment to expand its presence in Grand Rapids and throughout West Michigan, as well as the firm's obvious desire to serve this community in other important ways. Mears has the rare distinction of serving as an elected member of the American Law Institute and as a fellow with the American College of Bankruptcy. He is also president of the Western Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and is past chairperson of the local chapter's Bankruptcy Section. His publications include Colliers Bankruptcy Practice Guide (contributing editor); Bankruptcy Law and Practice in Michigan (co-author) for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education; and Michigan's Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code (co-author), also for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. In the West Michigan community, Mears has served as president of the Grand Rapids Ballet, as a board member of the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts and as director of the East Grand Rapids School Foundation.
