Four New Lawyers Join Dickinson Wright LLP

Dickinson Wright LLP is pleased to announce the additions of four new lawyers in the firm’s Toronto office. Douglas Benson and Mark Redinger join the firm as Members, Henry Chong joins the firm as Of Counsel and Robert Farmer joins the firm as an Associate.
Douglas Benson joins the firm as Member. His practice focuses on public-private partnerships and other types of infrastructure transactions, project and structured finance transactions and commercial real estate transactions. His clients include public and private sector participants in infrastructure transactions, financial institutions and Canadian and U.S. commercial real estate companies. Mr. Benson did his undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo and received his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1979 (Treasurer’s Medalist).
Mark Redinger joins the firm as Member. His practice focuses on mergers, acquisitions and corporate and financial solutions for clients which include both Canadian and International funds, private and public companies. He has particular interest in emerging markets work and has broad based experience in general corporate and finance, capital markets, derivatives, structured finance and banking matters. Mr. Redinger is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Law Society of England and Wales, and the Canadian Bar Association. He received his B.A. from the University of Toronto, LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario Law and his LL.M. from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Henry Chong joins the firm as Of Counsel. He focuses his practice in the area of taxation. He provides tax advice to public and private corporations on mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and cross-border investments and other international transactions, capital market transactions and personal tax planning for high net worth individuals. Mr. Chong is a former Senior Rulings Officer with the Reorganization and Resources Division of the Rulings Directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency in Ottawa. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Tax Section of the New York Bar Association, and the Canadian Tax Foundation. Mr. Chong received his B.A. from the University of Toronto, a LL.B. and LL.M. from the Osgoode Hall Law School, and a LL.M. from New York University Law School.
Robert Farmer joins the firm as an Associate. He focuses his practice in the areas of business, corporate, banking & financial services, real estate, gaming and litigation. He has worked with clients on a variety of matters including assisting in the re-structuring of a major off-shore family trust; working with Canadian and European companies involved in a dispute and arbitration with a publicly traded Asian company; advising on structuring and negotiations related to development and global commercialization of new technology; and providing on-going analysis of companies and countries with respect to the iGaming industry. He is a member of both the Ontario and Canadian Bar Associations. Mr. Farmer received his B.A. and B.Com. from Saint Mary’s University and his LL.B. and M.B.A. from Dalhousie University. Mr. Farmer was also awarded the C.F.A. designation.
