Industry's Mobile Work Force: Non-Competes, Trade Secrets and Email Evils

DETROIT, Mich. (January 26, 2004)— Veteran attorneys from Dickinson Wright PLLC will present at the ACC Detroit Chapter meeting on January 28, 2004 at the Skyline Club in Southfield, from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m.
The presenters will use a case study and panel discussion format to address non competes, protecting trade secrets, and avoiding the dangers of electronic data. Three of the presenters authored the newly released second edition of Michigan Business Torts (ICLE, September, 2003); all those attending the ACC session will receive a courtesy copy of the book (a $135 value).
Meet the presenters:

Edward H. Pappas - A veteran of 30 years' of business tort litigation, Ed has extensive experience in tortious interference, covenants not to compete, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, trademark, fraud, business defamation, breach of fiduciary duty and civil conspiracy claims. Ed is the author of the first edition of Michigan Business Torts (ICLE, 1991) and is acknowledged as the leading expert in the State on these topics. Ed is a member of the State Bar's Board of Commissioners and is a former President of the Oakland County Bar Association.
Daniel D. Quick - Dan has more than 10 years of experience as a litigator, with areas of practice focus including minority shareholder and "business divorce," securities, non-competes and trade secrets and general commercial matters. Dan is a member of the State Bar's Committee on Civil Procedure and is active in the Federal and Oakland County Bar Associations.
Sheryl A. Laughren - For more than 20 years, Sheryl has engaged in a widely diverse management side labor and employment practice, which has included traditional labor (NLRB and union organization matters), employment litigation and employment counseling matters. In the counseling field, Sheryl has extensive experience in non-compete agreements, executive employment/compensation agreements, employee severance/termination agreements, personnel policy and procedure manuals, preventative counseling on ADA, FMLA, ADEA, FSLA and WARNA matters and litigation avoidance counseling pre-litigation investigation. Sheryl serves as outside general counsel to a number of business entities and she serves on several boards of directors.
Thomas G. McNeill - Tom has nearly 20 years of commercial litigation experience, including in the fields of business torts, securities, commercial contracts, M&A, financial and accounting/GAAP. Tom is recognized as a leading expert in litigating and counseling with respect to identification, forensic retrieval and use of electronic data (including e-mail). Tom also serves as the Co-Chair of the ABA Litigation Section's Committee on Securities Class Actions.
