Three Dickinson Wright Lawyers Invited by Joint Government of Sweden/Private Industry Initiative to Present to Swedish Companies

May 22, 2015
Last month, Dickinson Wright lawyers Tim Andersson, Axel Kindbom and Joan Ellis were invited by Business Sweden, the Swedish Trade and Invest Council, to present a series of lectures to companies in Sweden looking to expand their business to North America.

Tim, Axel and Joan presented their lecture, Best Legal Practices for Establishing a Business Presence in US & Canada, to approximately 50 Swedish companies in three cities: Stockholm (April 17), Göteborg (April 16) and Malmö (April 15). The lectures provided insight on best practices for Swedish companies to set up operations in the U.S. and Canada and offered general advice on topics such as business incorporation, commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, immigration and intellectual property.

Anders Olsson, Manager & Head of Business Sweden in New York, spearheaded the Business Sweden-Dickinson Wright initiative and presented a North American business study and analysis as part of the lecture series. “We enjoy working with Dickinson Wright. The lectures were a great collaborative effort of Business Sweden and Dickinson Wright and we think our joint initiative provided very helpful insight for Swedish companies looking to set up a business in the U.S. and Canada” Anders said.

Business Sweden, the Swedish Trade and Invest Council, strengthens Sweden as an attractive, innovative and competitive business partner. With around 400 employees both in Sweden and in 46 markets, Business Sweden supports Swedish companies in reaching export markets and to create business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to grow internationally. Its aim is to facilitate foreign companies to invest in Sweden and connects international companies with business opportunities in Sweden - whether the interest is to gain access to the market or world class R&D and innovation clusters. Business Sweden is owned by the Government of Sweden and private industry (which shared ownership provides access to contacts and networks at all levels).
