James B. Perry, a Dickinson Wright labor and employment attorney in the firm's Detroit office, will present at the Council on Education in Management 2010 FMLA Update seminar and workshop in Greensboro, North Carolina on January 21 and 22, 2010. The seminar and workshop will focus on new FMLA regulations and what employers need to know to be compliant. The Council on Education in Management has been the leading provider of employment law training in the United States for more than 35 years. Mr. Perry will address recent FMLA statutory, regulatory and case law developments, and how they impact an organization's administration. He will explain FMLA leave for families of military personnel, how the new ADA Amendments Act creates new challenges when coordinating multiple leave laws, how to use the medical certification process to verify a serious health condition, and the latest information on employee eligibility, leave entitlement requirements and leave management. About the speaker James B. Perry is a member in Dickinson Wright?s Detroit Office. His area of practice is labor and employment relations. Mr. Perry has defended and counseled numerous employers in FMLA and disability discrimination claims. He also has represented all types of employers in responding to Union organizing drives and maintaining Union-Free Status. He has experience successfully negotiating labor contracts with all major unions and defending employment litigation in federal and state courts for a wide variety of employers. He also has significant experience before employment agencies including the NLRB, the Department of Labor and the EEOC. He is a member of the Michigan Bar's Labor Law Section, and has held numerous positions for the Detroit Chapter of the Labor and Employment Relations Association. He is an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School, and frequently speaks on labor and employment law topics and issues. Mr. Perry has spoken for the Council on Education in Management in San Diego and Palm Springs, California, as well as in Chicago, Atlanta and in various cities in Michigan.
