Dickinson Wright PLLC attorney Phillip J. DeRosier will co-moderate a panel discussion at the 2010 Michigan Appellate Bench Bar Conference, which takes place at the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, Michigan, on Thursday, June 10 and Friday, June 11, 2010. The panel is entitled "Top Tips and Pet Peeves - Emergency Filings." Panelists, including a Court of Appeals Judge and staff from both the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, will provide practice tips on filing and responding to emergency appeals. Highlighting civility and collegiality among the bench and bar, the 2010 Bench Bar Conference will feature two days of sessions on a variety of appellate law topics, including information about efficient record and transcript production, effective brief writing and oral advocacy, and what to do after the appeal is over. Key presenters at all sessions include appellate judges, court staff and experienced appellate practitioners. Luncheon speakers include Indiana Court of Appeals Judge Margret G. Robb and legal writer Bryan A. Garner. Mr. DeRosier is a member in the firm's Detroit office. He focuses his practice in appellate litigation, and was named a "Rising Star" by Michigan Super Lawyers in the area of Appellate Litigation. Mr. DeRosier is Secretary of the State Bar of Michigan, Appellate Practice Section Governing Council, and a member of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and Chair of its Appellate Practice Section. He earned his B.A. from Michigan State University, and his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
