Dickinson Wright Builds Better Future for Detroit through Habitat for Humanity

June 2005
DETROIT, Mich.—The law firm of Dickinson Wright, with the support of other Detroit area law firms and local businesses, will lead the effort in building a home for Habitat for Humanity's Jimmy Carter Work Project 2005. The blitz build project will be held the week of June 19-24. The "Legal House," located at 3722 Tillman in southwest Detroit, is sponsored by the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Mark F. Makower, Chair of the Real Property Law Section and a member of Dickinson Wright, is the builder and lead on the "Legal House" project. Dickinson Wright is the single largest sponsor for the house with a donation of more than $15,000 and 15 volunteers. Other support comes from individuals, local law firms, banks and title companies. Habitat Detroit is one of two host cities, along with Benton Harbor, for the Jimmy Carter Work Project 2005 in Michigan. Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn will lead volunteers in Detroit and Benton Harbor to build 55 Habitat homes for partner families.
