Dickinson Wright Attorneys Receive Pro Bono Awards

Several Dickinson Wright PLLC attorneys were awarded 2008 Pro Bono Service Awards from the Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. at a program held Monday, October 27 at the Southfield Public Library in Southfield, MI. Kyle S. Krywko, an associate in Dickinson Wright's Detroit office, received the Impact on Housing award. Pangborn Pins were awarded to Michelle L. Alamo, a member in the firm's Detroit office; Dustin A. Lane, an associate in the firm's Detroit office; and Stephen M. Guerra, and Dora H. June, associates in the firm's Bloomfield Hills office. Rick A. Haberman, Vice Chair of the Legal Aid and Defender Board and a member in Dickinson Wright's Detroit office, hosted the evening's events. In a separate ceremony, the Federal Bar Association recognized Daniel D. Quick, a member in Dickinson Wright's Bloomfield Hills office, for his work on prisoners' rights. "On behalf of Legal Aid and Defender, we want to thank each of you for your valuable contributions to those in need here in Southeast Michigan," Joan Glanton Howard, chief counsel of Legal Aid and Defender's Civil Law Group, told award-winners. "Because of your willingness to take time from your busy schedules, share your legal expertise, and serve as zealous advocates in the courtroom, those who are financially disadvantaged can have equal access to justice." Ron Savage, a reporter and weekend co-anchor for FOX 2 News, was master of ceremonies for the awards program, and U.S. District Judge Victoria A. Roberts was the guest speaker. Legal Aid and Defender is Michigan's largest provider of free civil legal services to low-income residents. It serves metropolitan Detroit through its offices in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties. It also represents criminal defendants in Wayne County and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
