Dickinson Wright Attorney Robert F. Rhoades to Address MACPA Michigan Tax Conference

Dickinson Wright property tax expert Robert F. Rhoadeswill address a session of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) Michigan Tax Conference, November 7 - 8, 2007, at Laurel Manor in Livonia, Michigan. The session, titled "Real and Personal Property Tax Issues", will be held November 8 at 2:30 p.m. The in-depth discussion will focus on what is and is not considered as taxable personal property, coupled with legal implications and recent case law. Rhoades focuses his practice on property tax litigation. He also litigates non-property tax cases involving sales, use, income, and single business (now Michigan business) taxes. He is the past Chair of the Taxation Committee of the State Bar's Real Property Section. He taught State and Local taxation at Wayne State University for many years and continues to teach that course at Walsh College. He also regularly teaches certified continuing education courses for the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and Lorman Educational Services and numerous other tax-related organizations. Rhoades received a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan and a J.D. degree from the University of Detroit. He is one of three authors of the CCH publication, Guidebook to Michigan Taxes, 2003, and is the primary author of the property tax chapter of the reference book, Local Government Law and Practice in Michigan.
