Toronto Lawyer Cherie Brant Named to Aboriginal Law Certified Specialist Working Group

Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce that Lawyer Cherie Brant has been appointed to the Aboriginal Law Certified Specialist Working Group by the Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC).

The Aboriginal Law Certified Specialist Working Group was formed to develop the experience requirements and learning criteria for a new specialty designation in law affecting First Nations, Inuit and Metis in Canada. Once the program is complete, Ms. Brant will apply to become of the first group of Aboriginal law specialists to be certified by the LSUC. Aboriginal Law in Canada is a unique practice area that requires expertise in a diverse array of legal subjects, including but not limited to Constitutional law, administrative law, corporate/commercial law, estates and trusts law, real estate law, criminal law and family law.

Ms. Brant is a Partner in Dickinson Wright’s Toronto office. She provides strategic counsel to several First Nations and industry clients seeking to develop projects with First Nations and to understand and address Aboriginal rights and interests. She has been named one of Lexpert magazine’s Rising Stars, Leading Lawyers Under 40. Ms. Brant received her B.A. from the University of Waterloo and her J.D. from the University of Toronto.
