Dickinson Wright PLLC attorney Mark R. High recently was named President of The Detroit Wine Organization for 2008-2009. High, a member in the Firm's Detroit office, practices in the areas of corporate, international and corporate finance law. High also serves as the DWO's General Counsel. The Detroit Wine Organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation organized to raise money primarily to support children's programs. The Detroit Wine Organization has approximately 6,200 members. By hosting regular, educational events promoting wine knowledge, The Detroit Wine Organization exposes its membership to the great wines and wine experts in Southeast Michigan. Since its founding in 2003, The Detroit Wine Organization has donated more than $350,000 to metro Detroit charities. High counsels buyers and sellers in mergers or acquisitions in the high tech, manufacturing, retail, food service, real estate, automotive, defense and natural resource industries. He also has served as counsel to closely-held corporations, private equity firms, domestic offices of Canadian and other foreign businesses, and minority and majority investors in establishing minority business entities. High has a B.A. (with honors) from The College of Wooster, Ohio, and his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. He has served as a Council Member and is the immediate past Chair of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and is Co-Chair of the Corporate and Securities Committee of the U.S. Law Firm Group.
