Detroit, Mich - Dickinson Wright member Erin E. Gravelyn will address the State Bar of Michigan Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE)'s award-winning Litigation Bootcamp program on October 2, 2007, at the Eberhard Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and October 17, 2007, at the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, Michigan. ICLE's Litigation Bootcamp, which is designed to create a foundation for successful litigation, features top trial lawyers from leading firms who share their secrets and coach attendees in core concepts. The sessions provide hands-on practice to help attorneys gain confidence and reinforce new skills. Goals of the sessions include enabling attendees to: - Turn facts into powerful stories that persuade - Maximize settlements by negotiating strategically - Develop "stage presence" to project confidence and control - Improve results from mediation and ADR processes - Make compelling objections to exclude opponents' best exhibits - Admit evidence like a pro with hands-on practice - Use compelling, inexpensive visual aids - Establish mentoring relationships with outstanding trial lawyers Gravelyn's session, titled "The Truth About Arbitration Revealed - Practice, Procedure, and What It Takes to Win!", will cover how arbitration is distinguished from litigation, including a discussion of logistical considerations, discovery, presentation differences and motion practice. The program is co-sponsored by the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Gravelyn is a member Dickinson Wright, based in the firm's Grand Rapids office. She focuses her practice on Commercial and Business Litigation, Appellate Litigation, Construction, Insurance, Regulatory and Administrative Law. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan; the Federal Bar Association; the Grand Rapids Bar Association (Membership Committee); the National Association of Women Corporate Counsel; the DeVos Children's Hospital Children's Miracle Network Board of Directors and the Grand Raids Civic Theater Board of Directors. She recently completed her third year as Chair of the City of Grand Rapids Historic Preservation Commission, and has served as an Officer/Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony Women's Committee, and President of the Board of Directors of the North American Choral Company.
