*ABOUT THIS YEAR’S CHARITY | BEYOND BASICS

Beyond Basics is a 501(c)(3) student-centered, literacy nonprofit serving students in Detroit public schools since 2002.  They partner with principals and schools to bring students to literacy by providing reading, tutoring and supplemental programs - writing, art, mentoring and partnerships - throughout the school day for students in grades Pre-K through 12.  In addition to providing these services, they provide free books to every student and parent that enters their classroom.  Beyond Basics will accept monetary and book donations.  See suggested books below:

**The Detroit Public Library is located across the street from the Detroit Institute of Arts.  Valet parking will be available at the back entrance of the library off Cass Ave.  Please use circular drive.
