Dickinson Wright Members Present Update on Opinion Writing at Advanced Patent Law Institute

On January 20-21, 2011, Dickinson Wright members James Ledbetter and Jonathan Redway will be presenting on recent developments involving patent opinion writing, including clearance and pre-drafting strategies, including in particular litigation considerations. The presentation will take place at the annual Advanced Patent Law Institute at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Main Auditorium, Madison Building, Alexandria Virginia.

This two day program will feature a unique series of presentations by senior United States Patent and Trademark officials, leading academics, practitioners, and members of the judiciary. On the first day, the luncheon speaker will be David Kappos, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Alexandria, Virginia, who will provide an update on the United States Patent and Trademark Office. On the second day, the luncheon speaker will be the Honorable Randall R. Rader, Chief Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Washington, D.C., who will provide an update from the Federal Circuit. Additional speakers include a panel of distinguished judges, including the Honorable James F. Holderman, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Chicago, IL, the Honorable Elizabeth D. Laporte, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, San Francisco, CA, and the Honorable Lee Yeakel, United States District Court, Western District of Texas, Austin, Texas, who will discuss their experiences with and thoughts on managing, hearing and trying patent cases.
