4th Annual Aboriginal Entrepreneurs Conference & Trade Show

Join Dickinson Wright Lawyer Cherie Brant for the 4th Annual Aboriginal Entrepreneurs Conference and Trade Show on October 8 – 10, 2014 in Gatineau, Quebec.

Ms. Brant will serve as a panelist for a discussion on equity financing. A recent research study of Ontario Aboriginal businesses identified access to financing as one of the top three risks to future growth for Aboriginal businesses and Economic Development Corporations. This panel will discuss the following: breakthroughs and challenges in accessing financial resources required for start-up companies to survive their first years of business; understanding the perspective of a financial institution; and liability and risks in accessing funds. Ms. Brant will be joined on the panel by David Martin, Co-Founder of CAPE and Gregory Smith, President & CEO of InstarAGF Asset Management, Inc. The panel will be moderated by Clint Davis, Vice President of Aboriginal Banking for TD Bank Group.

Ms. Brant is a Partner in Dickinson Wright’s Toronto office. She provides strategic counsel to several First Nations and industry clients seeking to develop projects with First Nations and to understand and address Aboriginal rights and interests. She has been named one of Lexpert magazine’s Rising Stars, Leading Lawyers Under 40. Ms. Brant received her B.A. from the University of Waterloo and her J.D. from the University of Toronto.
