PROMINENT ASSIGNMENTS
Represented Kmart Corporation and its subsidiaries (prior to bankruptcy) for 15 years in
connection with acquisition (lease, purchase), development, financing (sale leaseback) and
disposition (sublease, assignment and sale) of real estate assets in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Represented other national retailers (La-Z-Boy, Meijer, Inc. and CVS Caremark) in acquisition, development,financing, leasing and disposition of real property.
Assisted LaFarge Corporation to relocate its cement terminal from downtown Detroit to a brownfield site downriver, involving the acquisition of the downtown site from LaFarge by the City of Detroit in exchange for a combination of cash and the replacement site.
Coordinated United States real estate security aspects in several states relating to the refinancing of a $1 Billion secured credit facility made available to a tier international auto parts supplier by an international financial consortium led by JP Morgan Plc.
Assisted Chrysler LLC to acquire property and development incentives in Maryville, Michigan for the construction of a new engine plant.
Represented public schools and charter schools in the acquisition of land for the construction of new
schools or expansion of existing facilities.
Negotiated a private water supply agreement with an Indian tribe for a 182 acre mixed use development in northern Michigan.
Processed applications to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality for permits for private waste water treatment facilities for residential developments.
Negotiated the revision of a Michigan Department of Agriculture policy which had impaired the ability of
private wind power developers to construct wind turbines on certain agricultural land, on behalf of a large international renewable energy company.
Led a team that negotiated approximately 30 warehouse leases for the American National Red Cross nationwide in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to improve the ability of the Red Cross to address future emergencies.
