Attorney Henry M. Grix Hosts ICLE Seminar on Drafting Qualified Terminable Interest Property Marital Trusts

December 11 2007

Dickinson Wright estate planning attorney Henry M. Grix recently hosted a seminar on Drafting Qualified Terminable Interest Property ("QTIP") Marital Trusts. Under current law, taxable estates are estates in excess of $2 million.

The event was part of the Planning Techniques for the Taxable Estate seminar organized by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE), and cosponsored by the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan. While the day-long ICLE conference focused on how and when to use fundamental tax planning techniques to protect years of accumulated wealth, such as gifts and trusts, and planning techniques, Mr. Grix's seminar covered: advantages and limitations of QTIP drafting; planning with the QTIP regulations; partial QTIP elections; reverse QTIPs; and QTIP sample language.
