Dickinson Wright Gaming Law Expert Dennis J. Whittlesey to Speak at Third Annual Miccosukee Indian Law Conference
March 26 2007
March 29-31, 2007, Miccosukee Resort and Convention Center, Miami, Florida
The Third Annual Miccosukee Indian Law Conference, which is sponsored by the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, will focus on "Getting Justice In and For Indian Country". Dickinson Wright attorney
Dennis J. Whittlesey
will participate in a Friday, March 30 panel discussing Gaming for Tribes – Now and in the Coming Year.
The conference is an exceptional opportunity to advance the understanding of Indian Law and policy, and an opportunity to network and obtain CLE credits. Unlike other Indian Law conferences that focus entirely on congressional and court updates, the Miccosukee Indian Country Law Conference is dedicated to helping attorneys, tribal representatives, and anyone interacting with tribes improve their skills and become better advocates.
About the speaker
Dennis J. Whittlesey is based at Dickinson Wright's Washington, D.C. office. His areas of practice expertise include gaming, Indian law, commercial and business litigation and environmental law. He has served as legal counsel to both unrecognized and federally recognized Indian tribes, providing counsel on Indian gaming law and Indian lands as well as a wide range of state and federal taxation issues unique to Indian tribes, individuals and lands. He holds a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a J.D. degree and LL.M degree in taxation, both from the Georgetown University Law Center. He is a frequent author and speaker on Indian gaming issues.
