Dickinson Wright Attorney John S. Artz to Moderate Panel on Changing Requirements in Intellectual Property Litigation

John S. Artz
will moderate the Federal Bar Association (FBA), Eastern District of Michigan Chapter's Intellectual Property panel on "What Every Attorney Needs To Know About The Ever Changing Requirements in Intellectual Property Litigation." The panel will take place October 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School's Auburn Hills Campus.
The panel will consist of United States District Judge Robert H. Cleland; Professor David C. Berry; and IP practitioner, Patent Expert and Special Master Richard Gauer. Panelists will cover topics including the current standard for proving fraud with respect to a trademark registration; the current standard for pleading and proving the defense of inequitable conduct as it relates to an issued patent; the new standard for demonstrating entitlement to injunctions in patent cases in view of recent Supreme Court precedent; and the evolution of the patentability of methods.
Mr. Artz is a member of the firm's Bloomfield Hills office. He practices patent, trademark copyright and gaming law. Mr. Artz has been a practicing member of the federal courts for 18 years and is entering his second year as the FBA IP Committee Co-Chair. He has been a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, President (2006-2007) and treasurer (2003-2005) of the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association, as well as spoken and authored articles pertaining to patent and trademark law.
